关于我
CURRENT MISSION
Explore, experience, and learn from the world and the people within it :)
ABOUT ME
fun, impulsive, friendly, open, honest, loyal, reliable. 24 years old. English. Strong desire to experience the rest of the world (or at least a few other parts of it!), learn about other cultures, communities. Involved in WWOOFing. Love meeting new people, hearing their stories and advice. Enthusiastic about everything, and willing to give anything a go at least once! A happy, easygoing, trustworthy person, and I hope to get the opportunity to meet as many other similar people :D Additionally, habits I have that irritate myself include overusing 'additionally', and excessively using smiley faces throughout my writings: for example :P
PHILOSOPHY
I live my life to experience as much as possible in the time I have given to me, to make the most out of every moment, and never look back and regret not doing something. The world is a huge place, and I would love to learn more about it and engage with the people living in it.
I hope that I can give something back to the world, and not simply take away from it: volunteering and casual work would be ideal and are both hugely appealing options. WWOOFing is an excellent means to do this, and (seems to me anyway) has a similar philosophy to Couchsurfing in the sense of an interlinked global community. The idea of these communities is brilliant, and I look forward to being a part of them, I feel that people are meant to work together and help one another :)
A few favourite quotes that I feel sum up my reflections:
'Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever' -Gandhi
'Not all who wander are lost' - J R R Tolkein
'Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe' -Anatole France.
'Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living' -Miriam Beard

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travelled around Canada for 6 weeks, and during this time I used the Couchsurfing website to connect with hosts, and also to meet locals/other travellers to go hiking with. Currently travelling in Canada, using my car to get around, willing to car-share with people going the same places.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My six weeks in Canada saw the beginning of my dreams to travel and explore the world, and increased my desire to travel more and meet new people. Staying with those who have the best knowledge of their home town was an amazing experience, and I don't think I would want to travel any other way in the future. I tried to give something back to those who offered me their couch, mostly by cooking a meal, or simply chatting about mutual interests!
Meeting people through groups, in order to go hiking etc, was also fantastic and led to some really great (and wholly unexpected) experiences :)
I look forward to meeting more like-minded people on my future travels!

音乐、电影和书籍
BOOKS:
currently reading:
'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho.
favourites include:
'Lord of the Rings' by JRR Tolkein
Trudi Canavan (author)
FILMS:
I admit, I haven't watched a great deal of films, I won't try pretend!
My favourite film is 'Sweet Home Alabama' (guilty pleasure, and now not so secret)!
I do enjoy most films, as long as there is VERY limited violence and horror. I would prefer to watch a film for pleasure rather than to be horrified, scared, or upset. Documentary films: slightly different circumstances, I wouldn't shy away from reality.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
When I went to New Zealand at 15 we visited Arapuni swing bridge, and not being a fan of heights, I couldn't walk over the bridge. (Google it, it's pretty high!) I always regretted not walking across that bridge, and promised myself in the future I would always try and do things even if they scared me! When I went back to visit my family a few years later we happened to drive past the bridge. This time, I walked right across the bridge and back! That feeling was one of the most amazing I have had: the ability to go back and complete an obstacle was indescribable, and the knowledge I gained from learning how to challenge myself is invaluable. :)
教,学,和分享
I would enjoy meeting and learning from everyone. I feel everyone has something worth teaching to another, even if it is simply advice and conversation.
Saying that, I am now struggling to think what I could offer to someone else... I make a mean lasagne ;)
More insights to follow once I have considered this a little more!
