About Me

ABOUT ME

I have an adventurous spirit and I love working towards positive community change. I finished my undergraduate this past May, with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology. I currently live in the mountains where I work on farms, and in local restaurants. Soon I may like to attend postgraduate school to earn a degree for Mental Health Counseling. Until then I would like to travel and volunteer in different communities. I am also a vegetarian, but I do not care if others have different preferences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love tramping and exploring new places. I have a hard time staying in one place for too long. Along with my sense of wanderlust, I prefer not to rely on hostels or hotels for my stay. To offer up a roof for travelers is some of the most fun I have had in my life. I enjoy getting to know people in this context.

Interests

I spend a lot of time reading and hiking. Philosophy and other human sciences are one of my favorite topics, because I find people very interesting. I love to cook with friends because it is a crucial part of being a community. I have danced for the past twelve years and so this is still my favorite way to spend free time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like more punk/alternative music (Elliot Smith, The Pixies, Shins...), but I grew up on things like David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. I can get along with almost any other type of music though.

My favorite moves would have to include things like Wes Anderson, Donnie Darko, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Quentin Tarrantino, anything with an existential sort of undertone is incredibly interesting to me personally.

Books are a major part of my life, it became second nature to have a book with me during my philosophy studies. So I read a lot of philosophers, my favorite are the existentialists but as this is a little broad I would say Camus is my favorite author. I love reading Palahnuik as well, and House of Leaves was amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 22 I spent a summer building a school in Uganda.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning is my speciality. I know that sounds nerdy, but I really enjoyed school for the most part. As far as teaching goes, I can instruct yoga and basic ballet/modern dance.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been trained to cook in restaurant kitchens and I love cooking for people. This is one of my favorite ways to repay someone for a favor. I also an excellent baker, if anybody wants to bake.
