I live in Pittsboro, NC. It's the exact middle of state. For some reason I can't figure out how to make it say anything other than "NC Area" on my profile.

I live with my 2 daughters, 16 and 14, my boyfriend, dog, 2 cats and horse. I usually have 2 bedrooms available since my son went off to college. Sometimes more if my girls are not going to be home. I also have 4 couches and a playroom that we sometimes throw a mattress on the floor. I have lots of room and anyone is welcome. I love to meet new people and if I am around when someone requests a place to stay, they will be welcome! Since I look for couchsurfing hosts for a band, and know how difficult that can be, please know if you are a band you're welcome to request a stay with me. I definitely have a soft spot for hosting bands.

I respond to all requests promptly. If you don't hear from me it means I didn't get the request for some reason, perhaps am out of town, etc. If you need a quicker response you're welcome to email kathie@redkats.com. I also appreciate a quick response to requests, because I spend a lot of time looking for hosts that would be a good match for the band, and if I don't hear back I wait before sending out new requests so I'm not just sending out a bunch of requests.

I manage a band, www.disarmers.com. They recently signed to Bloodshot Records and beginning in May they will be touring for 45 of the next 90 days. Many shows don't pay much, and with gas and hotels tours are sometimes lucky to break even. I try hard to make sure my band doesn't lose money and that is how I discovered couchsurfing. If you take hotel costs out of a tour, maybe even the band members can get paid! We hope to be successful enough to be able to afford hotels soon but until then we looove to couchsurf!

The band members are all very kind, considerate, and neat. They are also great conversationalists and have some super interesting experiences. Several of them have been in touring bands for many years. We are all left leaning and progressive, but tolerant of differences. Two of the band members are vegan. The rest will eat most anything. :) Their music is also very - very - good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet people and I like to travel. Couchsurfing is a great way for bands to travel, though it's a bit difficult to find people willing to put up 6 or so people. Big love to those brave folks who give it a shot! I think they'll be happy they did.

Some hosts have asked for cs profiles for each band member. They don't have them, because they don't have the ability to host right now and it doesn't seem fair to us to only be a surfer. I host as often as I can on behalf of all of us! Our band members are:

Sarah Shook - singer, songrwriter, mom of 11 year old son, vegan, social activist.

Eric Peterson - the most amazing guitar player! Sweet, kind, loves cats.

John Howie Jr. - amazing drummer, also lead singer of Two Dollar Pistols. Dad of 11 year old son. Vegan.

Aaron Oliva - upright bass player. Also builder of custom cabinets.

Phil Sullivan - pedal steel. Also builds amps for a living. Master of every instrument.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love most all kinds of music, especially with clever lyrics. I am not a very big fan or hip hop or electronic, but love most anything else. Old school rock and roller, more recently converted to good (old school, not today's bro-country) music.

I love good documentaries. I have never really watched television but lately have been watching some Nexflix series. We don't have tv, only Netflix. I've loved Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Shameless and Walking Dead.

I will read just about anything. Reading is one of my greatest pleasures in life. I love Elmore Leonard, Tom Robbins, Carl Hiassan, Pam Houston, and really too many other authors to name.
