About Me

ABOUT ME

As I am not very good at talking about my better qualities, I did ask my friends and their opinion is; 'Kathy is a wonderful considerate person to be around. She loves to do and learn new things. She does not see herself as disabled and will continue against all odds until a solution can be found or it's not worth hitting your head against a brick wall anymore. So she is resilient and will preserver in whatever task she undertakes. Kathy is a battler, been there, done that under the worst circumstances and survived. She has much to offer from her life's experience and takes personal friendships and relationships with people seriously. Kathy is honest by nature and a trustworthy person to call a friend'. We I think that about sums it up, while it may all be true, I can be also a little blunt when talking about the truth and can end up putting my foot(1)in my mouth! I have Hosted many International guests now for 12 months from all over the world and have learned tolerance, restrain and sensitivity to other cultures to ensure they receive a realistic understanding of our Australian Nation.

Interests

Creative ideas and expression are the attributes I admire the most. In any form, be it music, poetry, song, art or dance, responding to our create forces engages the full use of our mind and bodies. At first it was hands in mud, then a stick in sand, a pencil, a brush, sound, sight, materials, tools and finally pixels. I see traveling as another form of interaction, learning and self expression as another tool for expanding ones horizons. Everything I do from making a meal, washing the dishes to constructing a geodesic dome, I hope is an extension of my self expression.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The travel bug may have started when I was 7years old, lost in the streets of Melbourne! Lucky I was a Brownie and did Bob-a-job to buy some bread to eat. After walking (home) for 10hours in the city, not wanting to sleep in a shop front with newspaper over me like some, I selected a nice house and asked the owner if it would be ok to sleep under his bush in the front yard as I was so tired. As things go I ended up at the police station and so did my Mum so it ended well but the experience of traveling alone left a lasting impression! As unafraid as I was at the time, I think as an adult traveling in the outback of Arnemland and loosing the car in the dark was a lot more terrifying! After walking in circles for hours we lite a fire with only 3 matches and spent the night listening to buffaloes and dingos. Finally as the sun rose we headed east to the highway and came upon the track the car was on. Back in Darwin by 6.00am and at work by 7, I was amazed that life doesn't end by fear alone!
