Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Secret Twins, Florence and the Machine, Cory Branan, Tegan and Sara, The Thermals, Tim Barry, Arcade Fire, Tilly and the Wall, Band of Horses, Stars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Heartless Bastards, Lucero, Cat Power, PSAPP, Rilo Kiley, Lightning Love, The Kills, Santogold, Ben Folds, The Distillers, The Raincoats, Bright Eyes, Feist, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., The Gaslight Anthem, Le Tigre, Mirah, The Pixies... I should probably stop now.

Movies:
The Royal Tenenbaums, Amelie, Whale Rider, Boondock Saints, Shaun of the Dead, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and tons more

Books:
a repeat of the music situation would be a poor choice, no? I love books, I'm currently reading Feminist Theory by bell hooks and a collection of short stories by Issac Asimov. I love queer theory, women's and feminist studies, history, biography, young adult, fiction, historical fiction, and of course, cookbooks! Anyone who likes books is OK by me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just happened to be in Rome for Ciemmona 2009, made friends, and got to ride on a handmade backwards tandem. I miss the wonder and possibility of traveling experiences.

When I lived in Hamtramck, MI, I heard some raucous music outside my window one night and it turned out to be the Detroit Party Marching Band doing a spontaneous tour of the city. They let me tag along and we marched around the city, playing bars and street corners. This is the type of thing that can happen in the Detroit area. You should visit.
