About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to change the world through social innovation

ABOUT ME

I am a fun, creative, adventurous person. I've lived in New York City for the past 10 years. I am originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, but moved to New York to attend Fordham University where I got my bachelor's degree and double majored in women's Studies and Urban Studies (architecture) with a minor in environmental policy. I graduated with my master's degree in urban studies from Fordham University in 2012. I co-founded a women of color in hip hop events based company called "Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen" 9 years ago...check out the website www.mhhk.org

I love to go to concerts and I love to go to cooking classes. I love to travel and I have been to every continent except Antarctica (I have a trip planned there in the near future!)

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is live every day like it's your last. Life moves by so quickly and a robust life is better than a empty life in my opinion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I am looking to surf versus host (I have roommates and it's a bit tough to host...however I hope this will change so I can host in the future!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch surfed officially, however when I have traveled in the past, friends of friends have connected me with people that they knew that I could say with.

Interests

I love to volunteer and explore the world. In my free time I like to go to concerts or take cooking classes. I love taking dance classes and exploring the world as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am really proud that I co-founded Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen 9 years ago (www.mhhk.org) Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen (MHHK) is a multifaceted hip hop event designed to showcase women artists, especially women of color. MHHK serves as a social justice community-organizing platform that educates and empowers women of
color on issues that impact their lives, including HIV/AIDS and reproductive justice. Our mission is to create a dynamic interactive exchange and safe space for all women of color to express themselves through their art.

Teach, Learn, Share

Through my travels I want to learn about local cultures and traditions. I am very open and want to immerse myself in local culture. I want to teach people about music, and my world travels. I want to share my life experiences with those I meet!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Iceland, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Philippines, Russian Federation, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
