Overview
About Me
I'm a twenty something out of Boston (at the moment), and thrive on meeting and learning from new people in every walk of life. I'm trained in general biology, but on the side I bake all kinds of bread and am dying to find new people to bake for. I recently renewed my relationship with my public library system, and let me tell you, it's a game changer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best way to know a place is to know its people; I'm mostly interested in seeing cities through the eyes of the people who live there. Show me your favorite walk by the river or the guy who sharpens your ice skates or the building where your favorite ice cream shop used to be. Or just tell me about them, and I'll look for myself!
Interests
"Travel" -- but also, non-fiction with excellent prose, breweries and boulangeries, biking and blues dancing.
I'm sure if you ask we could find something I'm not interested in -- otherwise I'm probably game.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have a favorite book, but there are some authors that I LOVE: Octavia Butler, Ursula K. LeGuin, Isaac Asimov. Mark & Delia Owens. Ta-Nehisi Coates. Sir Terry Pratchett. Michael Pollan and Diane Ackerman and Tamora Pierce. Tamim Ansary and his book Destiny Disrupted, and Patrick O'Brien.
In the moving image world, I adore Orphan Black. Movies I have loved include: Advantageous, Fury Road, and Brokeback Mountain.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Standing on the lip of the crater, watching smoke rise on a windless night from the Kīleau caldera, illuminated by red magma from below and a full moon above, the blue bulk of a mountain and the ocean glinting in the distance.
Also I typeset my senior thesis with Latex if that matters to you.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am:
* a prolific and enthusiastic maker of bread and pretzels and other savory goods
* a stick shift driver
What I Can Share with Hosts
All of the above, of course! I can make a mean eggs Benedict. I love plants and animals and caring for all things living (please let me walk your dog). I excel at endurance cleaning of dishes in my friend's homes.
