About Me
ABOUT ME
Couchsurfed a few times, made really great memories, couchsurfing in Ireland for example. It's nice to be welcomed in a strangers house and to experience how people sometimes are generous with their own space and time. Of course I have done and don't mind doing the same in the future for other people, since it is often very rewarding and good fun. I immsensely enjoy beautiful landscapes, challenges like mountains, beautiful music like a Brahms symphony, the simple things in life like cooking and eating a yummy simple meal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had lots of guests in Salzburg, but they were friends or friends of friends, people I knew personally, or people my friends knew personally, that was before I joined couchsurfing. If my guests had time I loved to take them on mountaineering or cycling tours in and around Salzburg. That's the nice thing about having guests, you have to take some time off, and be a bit of a tourist yourself, which is really nice now and then ...
Interests
nature (just sitting outside, staring at some beautiful landscape somewhere, mountaineering ...),
music (studied music, main love: classical music, Bach, earlier music in perfect harmony, Brahms), also like Shankar, McFerrin, Carla Bruni (as background music to a nice meal ;)), La Farge, lots, and always discovering new performers
cooking and eating (simple vegetarian yummy food),
church (whatever (trinitarian) denomination)

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have lots of time to read and watch films recently. I would love to start reading again (which I did a lot for a long time). I do enjoy films like "A line across the sky" with Alex Honnold.
The Bible, Chronicles of Narnia 1+6, Jane Eyre, BFG, The Arrival, The Hobbit ....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Two days ago I listened live to a Brahms symphony which I hadn't done for a while - I nearly cried, it was that beautiful ;).
Teach, Learn, Share
my areas of expertise are languages and classical music, especially early music, but I also know some parts of the Alps a bit, quite a bit about plants
What I Can Share with Hosts
A hearty welcome, food, a pretty quiet place out in the sticks, my opinion ;).
Countries I’ve Visited
China, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, Wales
Countries I’ve Lived In
Austria, England, Germany
