About Me

Hey lovely people!

My name is Kathrin (Katie) and I love to be part of this wonderful Couchsurfing community, because CS simply enriches each and every travel!
I would describe myself as empathetic, spontaneous and creative. I'm a very optimistic person.

I currently work for a refugee music institute in Vienna (https://openpianoforrefugees.com/) which I love. Also, I'm finishing a masters in environmental and sustainability management... while trying to enjoy the present moment.

I love all kinds of sports, especially in the mountains. I love to travel, be it backpacking or bike-packing (done some eurovelo routes). 🚲
I care deeply for the environment. I enjoy sharing different philosophies of life. I play the piano, the guitar and I sing - happy to play some music with you. My newest endeavour is my saxophone.

In the last years, I spent a lot of time living, working and traveling around South America, which has been incredibly beautiful, mind and life changing. These years taught me how to find my inner balance, how to be happy about the small things in life, how to be gentle with myself in darker times, how to accept myself just the way I am and how to SHARE! :)

And since I love stepping out of my comfort zone and sharing moments with beautiful new people, Couchsurfing is just a brilliant thing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I generally feel connected to all beings and I think it's in the nature of humanity to do so, yet at some point we got socially conditioned to disconnect from each other (and from the environment around us).

Through Couchsurfing, I got to know humans that inspired me deeply, although we might have known each other only for a few hours. These people and moments warm up my little heart! :)

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music: Pink Floyd
I love oldschool music, but I basically listen to all kind of music! Reaching from alternative and progressive rock music over 90s hiphop to really good electronic music (my hometown Stuttgart/Germany is a great place for techno people!).
At home I have a huge collection of vinyl records and I love that special, authentic sound.

Favorite Movies: Into the Wild, Forrest Gump, Interstellar, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked on 5000m above sealevel.

Teach, Learn, Share

...From my side:
Meditation, relaxation techniques
Sustainable living, minimalism
Journaling / writing down your dreams / setting up a vision board

I love to cook - especially healthy and plantbased food. Also, I really enjoy baking chocolate brownies. Maybe in your kitchen? :P
Some of my friends also call me Knoblauch-Kaddi, which implies my big love for garlic. I know how to make some really tasty Guacamole with "un culo de ajo" (as my Bolivian friends told me, my Guacamole contains "an ass full of garlic")

...From your side maybe:
I‘m always curious what drives people, what’s your WHY? Tell me, what motivates you in life? :)
I'm really interested in environmental/social sustainability and all things mindfulness. Happy to learn and share thoughts. Have been very interested in permaculture lately.

Also amazing would be: yoga, jokes, good conversations, exchanging some music!

I do not expect anything but a nice and peaceful company - and I believe I can bring some really good vibes into your place :)
