My name is Kathryn Coley but I go by Kate or Katie. I was born in Sweden but at the age of 2 my family and I moved to Alpharetta, GA, USA. We lived there for 9 years before moving back to Sweden. I have lived here in beautiful Ljusdal ever since then. (Ljusdal means "The valley of light") I am a full-time Psychology major and I work in a nursing home part-time. My two greatest passions in life are helping people and exploring nature! My interest in flora and fauna has led me to several national parks here in Sweden and I am hoping to be able to visit them all in the future. When I'm not out and about, I enjoy spending time with friends or reading a nice book.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel somewhere I don't only want to see the place but also learn about it, experience the culture, the food, learn about the history... I believe that this can only be done by staying with locals. I'm very open-minded and outgoing and I'm hoping to make new friends, let's see the world together and share many interesting conversations!

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to 80's hits...blame my Dad! Rock is my tune.
I don't watch movies that often but my favorites are animated kids' stuff, feel free to laugh. I also enjoy classics like Home Alone, Harry Potter, Pretty Woman...

I love reading and you'll often find me reading two or three books at once! I read all kinds of books, I learn something from all of them so I don't see why not.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Me and a friend decided to visit Söderåsen last summer, it's a national park in southern Sweden. We packed everything (or so we thought), got in the car and the journey had started! We were only planning to stay there for one night and then visit her parents and stay with them for the rest of the trip. To make a long story short: After a full day of hiking in Söderåsen we decided it was time to set up the tent, only to realize we had left the tent at home! Being far away from the car we had no choice but to bundle up and sleep on top of a mountain under the night sky...a memory for life.

I want to learn as much as I can about any place I visit! I LOVE the outdoors so please talk to me about plants, animals, rivers... If you wish I can teach you everything I know about Sweden in return. If you are interested in hiking or finding the best beaches, I'm the one to ask!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking and wouldn't mind cooking something for you! I can tell you about my country. I love languages and I speak quite a few fluently so teaching you one or two won't be a poblem. I recently started taking classes in Ashtanga yoga so if you're interested in that we could definitely do some yoga together (: Most of all, I can offer you great company!
