Hi, I'm Kathryn. I'm married and a proud owner of a gorgeous golden retriever.

I have lived in Perth all my life and love taking my dog to the beach, cooking (mainly foods that aren't very good for me), red wine and eating burgers. I have a terrible sweet tooth and am a firm believer that there is always room for dessert. I work as an Occupational Therapist as my day job, but I would ultimately like to make and decorate cakes and candles.

I'm also a bit of a running addict and always on the look out for new running buddies (my husband blames his knees as the reason he never wants to go with me).

My passion for travel started at a young age (my parents were massive travel addicts). I went on my first overseas trip when I was 5 and have had the travel bug ever since. This year my husband and I have decided to pack up our life and go travelling for 12 months in Europe and South America. It's massive gamble but there's a big world out there and we can't wait to see more of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the concept of couch surfing and have made some awesome friends whilst on holidays. I love learning new things and exploring cities from a local's perspective; exploring the road less travelled. I'm always planning my next trip so would love to meet other travellers, listen to their stories and pick up some tips. I would also like to share some of my home with you, whether this be through cooking you a Aussie dish or trying to explain a game of football!

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste is music is pretty varied but I love anything by Ed Sherran, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Goo Goo Dolls, Gyroscope and Pink.

I love reading and have managed to collect lots of books over the years. Harry Potter is still a personal fave, The Tomorrow series, anything by Jodi Picoult or Jojo Myers. I recently read The Woman in the Window (read it if you haven't it's awesome) and am currently reading The Girl on the train which I'm loving. I love books that keep me on the edge of my seat and I can't put down. I'm hoping to read lots of books over the next 12 months!

Way too many movies to choose from but The Notebook, Parent Trap, Meet Joe Black, Coach Carter, The Blind Side and Remember the Titans are a few of my favs.

TV shows (to name a few): How I Met Your Mother, How To Get Away With Murder, The Blacklist, Modern Family, The Good Wife, Orange Is The New Black, Jane The Virgin, Grey's Anatomy, Friends, Shooter, Chuck, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Pretty Little Liars. Credit to Netflix for significantly increasing my exposure to new shows :)

Trekked to Everest Base Camp in 2017, surreal experience and a must for the bucket list!
Ran a marathon in 2016.
Hot Air Ballooning in Turkey.
Quitting my job and packing up my life to travel for 12 months
