About Me

I am a freelance researcher and translator. I have a PhD in Bilingual Language Acquisition and love anything to do with languages. I practice yoga regularly and I'm trying to practice mindfulness too as part of this (I was introduced to mindfulness quite a while ago, but have recently gotten back into it). I'm interested in meeting people from all walks of life. I love learning about different cultures and languages. I love food too, and am always up for trying new types of cuisine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet like-minded people when I go abroad, or even if I travel elsewhere in the UK. I'd like to spend time with local people who would be willing to let me stay with them for a night or two or even just meet for lunch/dinner or recommend good places to visit when I'm visiting new places. I would particularly like to meet up with native Spanish speakers so that I can practice my conversational Spanish!

Interests

I am a self-confessed language geek. I love anything and everything about languages. I was raised bilingually (Welsh & English) and I have learnt Spanish to an intermediate level, but I'm always keen to improve. I also love watching films, baking cakes, swimming, yoga, and going for walks/hikes when the weather is fine!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Complete my PhD!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be happy to show people around my wonderful hometown, Caernarfon and other beautiful places in the North Wales area, and share a little knowledge about Wales, our beautiful language and our culture in general. I can't always accept guests, but am happy to do so if I am available. Just ask and I'll check my availability. I have one housemate, Albert, who is from Catalunya, and he is a fellow language geek! Haha! If I have any requests to stay at my place, I will of course have to run it by him first.

Countries I’ve Visited

England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, United States
