About Me
Hi I'm Kathryn or Kat. I'm from England but currently living in North Vancouver, Canada. I haven't traveled much and this is my first time traveling solo! I have a 2 year working visa in Canada so plan to spend a lot of time here, working, saving money and visiting family. Then, I hope to travel the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To broaden my horizons, travel to new places, meet new people and to gain some confidence to backpack and travel alone.
Interests
I enjoy hiking, this has become a recent interest of mine and it started when my Dad and I hiked up Mt Snowdon, the peak of Wales, in April 2015. We then hiked it again as part of a community group in July 2015, however I was dressed in a Hawk mascot suit representing the Hunslet Hawks rugby team!
Our next challenge was Ben Nevis, the peak of Scotland (and the highest mountain in the UK) which we completed, again as part of a community group, in October 2015. That night I actually ended up camping at the base of the mountain (there were only limited space in the hostel so some of use chose to camp - which was awesome!)
Finally to complete the set, my Dad, my Uncle (who I must add are in their not so early 60's) and I hiked Scafell Pike, the peak of England, in February 2016. This was great fun as there was still snow on the top.
One day I wish to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge (All three of these mountains within 24 hours!)
My dad and I also completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge (Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent within 11 hours) That was a big challenge and I'm proud that we completed it.
Recently I bought myself an entry level DSLR aiming to get into astrophotography. I love all things space, planets, stars and the universe so would love to become good at picturing the night skies!
I used to kayak many years ago, it's not something I've done for a while now but I would love to get back into it.
