ABOUT ME

Hey all - I'm a 26 yr old English chick, finished a fabulous 18 month trip around China, SE Asia and Australasia last year. now back in reality :( and pinning for more adventures! Like to think of myself as a friendly, talkative, down to earth kind of gal.. currently doing my PhD on travelling (jammy I know!!) so looking for people who wouldn't mind sharing their experiences with me!

I'm back home after a mammouth 18 month trip... unfortunately back with folks so unable to host, but always available for a coffee, show people about sunny Weston-super-Mare and a chat about travels to curb the dullness of being back home!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed with Marco and Taro in Perth, Australia; Candy in KL, Malaysia and Katie in Bandung, Indonesia, but met lots of other cool couch surfers along the way :D ...Freddy and the Bandung crew; Fran Bristol, Alex and Zuzanna in Cardiff...

Interests

Travel, travel TRAVEL!! Aim to see the world (or most of it!) by the time I'm 30... Long walks, the sea, green olives, good coffee, friendly dogs, reading, writing, camping, scuba diving, horse riding, NZ wine, Thai food, Laos sticky rice!

Far too many movies to reel off but... LOTR, Napolean Dynamite, Blood Diamond, Slumdog Millionaire, The Green Mile, Battle Royale, The Notebook, Stardust, love a good horror flick - bit of a mixed bag as you may tell!!
Loving Hot Chip, Operator Please, Empire of the Sun, La Roux, GaGa (oh no!) MGMT, Jacky J, Kings of Leon, Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal, Jamaica are pretty good.
Shantaram, Life of Pi, Harry Potter, Memoirs of a Geisha, Bill Bryson.
Currently reading '1421 the year China discovered the world' which is fascinating. Fell in live with China after spending 7 weeks there, and mad keen to get back.

My PhD is on travel from a cultural geography perspective, looking at identity formation, the importance of place, gripping stuff like that (ha)! so always up for a chat if you'd like to be a part of my research (or bored to tears!)
