About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to learn to love others well, love this life well, and appreciate each moment I am given.

ABOUT ME

I am an aspiring artist, living in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With the Linville Gorge and Lake James just a skip away, I count myself rather blessed.
These days I am painting, hiking, teaching part time, and reading all my granddaddies books, and he was a bibliophile so I don't discount that as a minor activity. I am learning what college graduates are supposed to do, learning and breathing, and taking every day in, as one treasure after another.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe life should be embraced whole heartedly, and enjoyed with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

while I have just joined the community, I hope to be involved by hosting and traveling through this fantastic network!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any yet, but I have heard great things about it through friends and am excited to start.

Interests

I am an artist, working as an educator. kids + art= large messes, wild smiles, unexpected disaster zones. I'm interested in those things.
I like to run, follow my own recipes-which means adding protein powder to brownies (because, why not?)- organizing things, make elaborate plans which usually fail and then come together and then almost fail, and then are salvaged at the last minute. I love being with my family, making new friends, and have an adventure from time to time.

Music, Movies, and Books

In the past 2 months I have listened to Josh Garrels, Mountain Man, Local Natives, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Timber Timbre, The Black Keys, Clare de Lune (that one, on repeat i'm afraid). I have read (in reverse, chronologically) The Land, two Star Wars books, 1/2 of Moll Flanders (because, well, it's obvious) Soil and Sacrament, excerpts from John Woolman's journals, Out of the Silent Planet, a sorry number of pages from Notes from the Underground, Surprised by Joy, and that's it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a lifelong student of Fine Art and Design and would love to talk, exchange ideas, and pass along anything I could to further your knowledge of these topics. As well as other, although I don't pretend to be an expert. At anything. Except washing dishes. I am an excellent dish washer.
