We are two young doctors from New Zealand who have quit our jobs , packed our lives into backpacks and set off to travel the world.

We grew up in Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand and have spent the last few years living and working in the sunny Hawke's Bay in the North Island. During our time in Hawkes Bay we have been hosting couch surfers and thoroughly enjoying every moment- making friends, having laughs and sharing our beautiful country.

We are a friendly couple and like people, eating and laughing. We have very much enjoyed our previous travelling during our study holidays- and it is a dream come true to be able to spend this year exploring further afield.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whilst travelling around Europe in my university holidays I came across couch surfing- I had such a great time and fell in love with the concept very quickly. Upon returning home as soon as I had a place big enough to host, William and I started hosting couch surfers. It has been a rewarding 3 years hosting, having had nothing but good experiences and having made lifeling friends. We are looking forward to many more Couchsurfing years.

Music, Movies, and Books

Our favourite bands include Grizzly Bear, Radiohead, Beirut, Black Keys, Band of Horses, Andrew Bird, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bon Iver, Childish Gambino, The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, The National, Future Islands, Janelle Monae, Santigold, Die Antwoord...really too many to list. We love live music but don't get as many big international bands playing in NZ as we would like.

We read quite a bit in spurts, particularly when we are travelling. Currently following the books of Brandon Sanderson, Haruki Murakami, Kazuo Ishiguro, Patrick Rothfuss, Cormac McCarthy, Guy Gavriel Kay. We are always on the lookout for something a bit different.

Once we drove through a rainbow. Not to mention seeing a double rainbow on the same day.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are good to practice English with (if you understand our accents...) and are both are keen to learn other languages- especially Spanish and Cantonese.

We like to cook and would love to cook for our hosts and to learn about local food and cooking.

We can tell you lots about the New Zealand healthcare system and are always interested in learning about other healthcare systems
