About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn how to cook all the amazing foods of the world (a lofty goal) and meet a lot of wonderful people along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am from the USA (Seattle), but have been living in Mexico and Guatemala since 2013. I work for a small compost/gardening business in Oaxaca and for an organic gardening business remotely, and I am very grateful for the flexibility to travel that affords me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met a few people socially, surfed at a few people's places, and hosted a few at mine. Not a bad experience yet!

I am able to host sometimes, depending on when you'll be here, but you'll need to be a somewhat independent traveler. I have a guest room and I love to show visitors around, but I also work. So you need to be comfortable getting around on your own as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and been hosted and had amazing experiences on both sides, meeting wonderful people from all over the world!

Interests

I love to cook, hike and travel mostly. I'm from the US (Seattle), but I've lived in England, Germany, South Africa, Guatemala, and Mexico, and I hope to keep up the trend. I also really enjoy theatre and performance arts (as an audience member...not a performer!).

Music, Movies, and Books

As for movies, I like mysteries and psychological thrillers. I especially like horror movies, but people are generally surprised when I tell them that!

I enjoy most types of music, but my current favorites are bachata and hip hop.

I like to read a variety of books -- historical fiction is my favorite (I loved Pachinko and Molokai), but I also love a good mystery, true crime, and character development book. And cookbooks...which some might find strange, but I love seeing how different ingredients can work together. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving -- I'm terrified of heights, so this was a big stretch for me! I loved it, but am not sure my nerves could handle it again.
