Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Katie.
I'm a 23 year old Australian who's just moved to Germany on a Working Holiday Visa. I love travelling, meeting new people, waking up at ridiculous hours to see a sunrise and going to sleep at even crazier hours after a night out. I read a lot, surf the internet and love walking through snow. I studied Criminology and spent a year researching mugshots.... it was very geeky but also very cool (well, I think so anyway).
I'm conversationally fluent in German, but my der/die/das/den/dem/des's aren't exactly perfect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to immerse myself in a different culture and speak German as much as possible with hosts (I am happy to speak English with you if you'd like to learn).
I think the best way to see a country is to stay with the people who live there; I learnt this through being an exchange student and then being a hostel-living traveller. I'd much prefer to see inside the 'real' culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've sat in over 100 police interviews supporting juvenile offenders in Victoria, Australia. I chat to the kids before their interview, and break down their rights and relevant legislation into 'kid terms' so that they can understand it. I then sit through the interview and make sure the police act justly and don't intimidate the kids. Afterwards, I refer them to relevant support agencies. It's an incredibly sad, difficult and often dangerous job, but it's also incredibly interesting and highly rewarding.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a qualified English as a Foreign Language teacher and am happy to help you with your second language if you'd like.
I also cook a lot, and love trying new things. I especially love vegetarian and vegan meals, but I do eat meat.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can speak English with you if you would like to practice. I'm happy to cook meals with you.
(Sadly I have to post this due to one bad experience.... but better safe than sorry....) Not interested in relationship/sex with hosts. Please decline if you expect this.
