Hi fellow Couchsurfers! My name is Katie and I am from the Chicago suburbs and now reside in the great city of Chicago. For work I teach and coach soccer at a public high school. It is very challenging but very rewarding work. The ultimate reward is the vacation time!
Outside of work I love to adventure and have fun. Lately, I have been playing a lot of soccer in my free time. I also spend a lot of time cooking, riding my bike, and taking advantage of Chicago's beautiful beaches. You can often find me seeing live music, trying new foods and restaurants, and causing a little bit of trouble ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Bottom line is, I love to learn! I love to make new friends and have new experiences.
When I travel, I want to learn about the people, culture, and history of the place that I'm traveling to, and what better way than from the locals?
I also enjoy learning about other cultures and making new friends from the comfort of my own home when I am not travelling by hosting surfers! I love making sure that visitors feel comfortable, safe and welcome and that they have a good experience while they are visiting my city/country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked with a guide up a mountain in Mexico to find a place where the monarch butterflies migrate to for winter. It was at the perfect time of year, while they were just waking up for springtime and getting ready to head back North.
