About Me

I'm a Brighton born and bred girl with a lot of holidays under my belt but just starting out on seeing the world properly!

I've been told I'm pretty easy to get on with so hopefully that's true (I haven't met any people I haven't liked even a little bit) if a little quiet maybe at first.

Like I said new to the travelling world so maybe a little naive to it all but I'm trundling along ok so far and loved (almost) every minute!

I'm currently in on the second part of my trip, Malaysia, and hopefully here for just under 2 months, not explored yet but so excited! I started in Nepal and was there for 7 weeks all together. I was working with some amazing children at an orphanage and taught in the local school, the kids were such a great highlight and I miss them all so much already! Met some great people along the way and somehow become complicit in the following (not quite stalking) of a local hair band called The Wave.... Not that I'm complaining they were pretty awsome.

So many half formed plans for while I'm in Malaysia so looking forward to putting them in to action!

Besides travel I'm currently doing my degree in childhood and youth studies to potentially become a teacher but not entirely decided yet...something in child services anyway. Back home I work a lot with children through schools, childminding and foster respite care which I love but also did the obligatory customer service office job to bring in the rent (was so good to quit!)

Anyhoo that's me, any questions fire away!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm off on my own for my first time travelling so would be great to know where I'm staying without having to go down the hostel route all the time (even being brought up youth hostelling I still find them a bit daunting on my own) Also so nice to have a local on hand, especially a travelling pro as so many on here seem to be!

.....plus the obvious, got to love saving a but of cash

Interests

I'm not going to pretend I have the most exhilarating interests...I'm a bit of a grandma before my time but still fun I swear!

I love my crafting stuff...bit of embroidery, sewing etc. I also draw and sculpt (clay stuff mainly) and draw a few little bits on my own children's book which I'm illustrating in the hope that someone will write it for me as that's not my forte

I also enjoy cycling but in a relaxed country bike ride rather than racing or anything remotely extreme

I love walking and hiking and now aparenrtly trekking (well when in Nepal...)

Other than that just normal people stuff, pubs, tv, friends etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't do the favourites thing but I listen to a lot of funk, soul, Motown but also everything else really, love a good 80s ballad, equally can enjoy a good night of jazz. If its nice to my ears I generally like it.

Film wise pretty similar, from sci-fi to Disney to shooting people in the face
