Overview
About Me
I recently graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont where I studied computer science and taught skiing. Prior to college I spent a semester at NOLS backpacking in the Western United States. Last summer I lived in Seattle and worked at Amazon as a programmer. After graduation I spent 10 weeks traveling in Europe -- I hiked in beautiful places, ate delicious food, and met interesting people. I'm just beginning a 12 month fellowship that will take me all over the world to study traditional textile work. I love hiking, skiing, climbing and generally being outdoors. My current philosophy comes from Charlie Chaplin: "A day without laughter is a day wasted"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to see real places, not guidebook descriptions. And who better to help me than someone who lives there?
Interests
Hiking, skiing, climbing -- I love being outside. I also love to dance. I've done both swing and contra dancing and I'd love to learn more! In college I practiced both jiu jitsu and capoeira and slacklined as a break from studying. I loved school though -- I can talk coding and novels, and love geography. I spend a lot of time knitting and will spend the next 12 months studying textile work in different cultures.

Teach, Learn, Share
My smile and endless enthusiasm. I love to hear stories and learn new things, and I'm also happy to share anything I know -- a conversation, a skill, or an adventure. I've tutored math and computer science extensively, taught skiing for several years, and taught a few friends to knit and crochet. I'm willing to help out with chores as well, although I can't claim to be a master chef.
