Overview
About Me
There are really only two things you need to know about me:
(1) I love to read.
(2) I love to explore.
I can often be found roaming around with Kindle in hand, and will take every opportunity to augment reality with narrative and flights of fancy.
I work as a firmware engineer on a fitness band, which has led to an interest in role-playing fitness (e.g. "Zombies, Run!"). My inherent clumsiness and sugar-based non-meat diet mean that I never get any stronger, but my stubbornness means I never stop trying.
I like being on the go until I inevitably burn myself out and retreat indoors to naps and video games and movies (and more books of course).
As is probably obvious, I'm a quiet introvert-type. I don't smoke or do drugs and rarely drink, but I don't mind being around those who do in moderation. I enjoy good conversation and swapping stories and acting silly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As someone who believes that most people are good, I like the open spirit of CS (and it jives with my stingy tendencies).
I find that shared experiences are richer, and staying with locals seems like a great way to see the world from different perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Downtempo electronic music, film scores, playlists that capture a concept or feeling.
Movies:
Disney/Pixar, nature documentaries, whatever you want to watch.
Books:
Anything and everything! Fantasy is my comfort fare, especially Terry Pratchett and Brandon Sanderson. Friend me on Goodreads (/TheRovingReader).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming in the middle of a pod of wild spotted dolphins and taking a breath together.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach me about the things that make you feel alive, and I'll do the same. I am a geek who spends most my time among geeks, so no interest is too obscure.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Recommendations for books and hikes in the pacific northwest.
I'll also pitch in wherever I can help (though be warned I tend to make a ridiculous mess whenever I attempt to cook).
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Chile, China, England, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand
