Hey!

I'm in BC travelling with my boyfriend out to explore and experience all that Canada has to offer! I grew up in Cambridge, UK and apart from my time at away at university I have lived there my whole life. In 2013 I graduated from my Part 1 Architecture degree at the University of Lincoln and have decided that now is the time to get out there for a change of scenery!

In January of this year I hopped on a plane with my friend from home and flew to New Zealand to travel and WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) for 6 months! This was my first big trip and I couldn't go further away from home if I tried! It was my "all or nothing" trip. I went with the intention to both learn about organic and sustainable lifestyles that I could then transfer into my Part 2 Architecture degree - and to just get out and witness and enjoy all I could as I had the chance and opportunity before me (so of course a fair few Lord of the Rings stops and visits were made along the way!)

By the end I'd definitely caught the travelling bug. So when that came to a close at the end of June I said goodbye to my friend from home and flew over here to Canada to meet up with my boyfriend who has been travelling here since February. BC has been fantastic. It's offered us so much wonderful hospitality and stunning scenery - I can't wait to see more...!

Whilst travelling I have wwoofed and lived with people/families which has by far been one of the best experiences! I like how it gives that chance to experience not just the sites but the people that make a place what it is - its a much more fulfilling and worth while experience, unlike staying in an impersonal hostel environment.

I also love hearing from the hosts what it is that they love about where they live. I think it gives an exciting warmth to a place that other wise might have been lost by skimming the surface. On top of that just swapping stories and hearing new things is always fun and welcome!

So of course I'm quite interested in Architecture, but generally anything creative and crafty which has a functional and/or visual impact is just great for me. I'm a big fan of Visual and Special Effects in film and can quite happily sit through all the extras on the behind the scenes documentaries!
Since travelling I have definitely become a fan of hikes and outdoor pursuits! It allows me to go out and do all the memorable exiting things I just can't do at home which is awesome.

I have dabbled in a bit of stone masonry and I volunteered at an eco-information charity too which has been pretty fun!

Before travelling I was a real big home girl, so along side things like baking and a bit of home crafts like sewing and up-cycling I do love a bit of gaming and marathon sessions of watching tv boxsets!

Music:
I'm mostly into rock, folk, soundtrack, score and indie music. I'll happily listen to most other things too but you cant beat a good bit of Seth Lakeman or Harry Potter.

Movies:
Im now happy to branch out way more, but as a teenager I was pretty stuck in my ways so I love watching things like Jane Austen, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean... But now I'm quite into a bit of anime with the Studio Ghibli and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood etc...

Books/Audiobooks:
Well the Harry Potter seriese is what got me into reading in the first place, so defiantly reading that or listening to Stephen Fry's voice! I also love reading/listening to Neil Gaiman, George R R Martin, Jane Austen.. So I guess mainly fantasy/fairytale. But I do also read a little Charles Bukowski, Arthur Millar and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Travelling the length of New Zealand but primarily hiking up Mount Ngauruhoe/Mount Doom. The whole experiece from the nerdy excitement through to the various landscapes we walked though on our way up! Witnessing the tropical forest, the wind battered wasteland, the crunchy snow and the ice! All through both stunning clear sunny skies and blinding blizzard conditions! The whole thing for me was just a fantastic experience and challenge I'll never forget!

We also just went White Water Rafting the other day - always wanted to do that! It was awesome

I love baking so can make you an awesome cake! Me and my boyfriend are also pretty good at pancakes for breakfast so we'll make you some of those for sure!

I can also play basic guitar (seriously nothing special) but I could teach you the basic chords I know to help you play along to most songs! (They're generally 4 or 5 chords repeated anyway - so thats simple but looks and sounds impressive to those who dont know!)

Again I'm no expert but I can also show you basics of knitting and sewing. The sewing has come in real handy when travelling about to make our items last way longer :)
