About Me

I left the backpacking lifestyle to come back to this little city that I missed so much! I moved to England in 2017 and while living there, backpacked all around for 2 years. I used Couchsurfing all the time and still do when I do shorter backpacking stints, so I love to give back to the community. I absolutely love this city and would love to show it off to you.

I live in the absolute heart of the historic district downtown, also not far from the Starland district (my favorite area in Savannah - the up and coming area near the arts college). There are lots of cool cafes and shops around. Although, Savannah is extremely walkable, so it won’t take much for you to explore any district. I know literally every single restaurant and bar in Savannah. I also personally know many of the bartenders, baristas, and servers, so if you’re looking for somewhere to sit, have a drink or some food, and observe and chat to the locals during the day if I'm not around you’ll always have a place and a listening ear.
I also bartend on the main strip a couple days a week and you’re more than welcome to sit at my bar and chat with the people who will sit around you.

My main job is that I’m a tour guide. You are more than welcome to come on one of my tours free of charge. It’s a great way to see the city and meet other travelers. They are all drinking tours, so maybe don’t join if you’re not into alcohol or having a fun, tipsy time with strangers.

IMPORTANT: I do have a strange work schedule. I have multiple jobs and work basically every day and on weekends, I work all day and all night, so I won’t really be around. I also do not have a spare key. But go see Savannah night life! It’s so lively. If you come on a weekday, I’m more than happy to show you some spots but it’s really just not possible on weekends.

ALSO IMPORTANT: I have two cats.

ALSO ALSO IMPORTANT: I’m saving up to move to Chicago in April 2024, so I won’t be able to ball out downtown with you like I have for other surfers in the past. I’m heartbroken to leave Savannah, but it’s time. Be patient with me as I maneuver this massive change. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For surfing - I want to meet people who show me what life is like wherever I am. Show me all the coolest places, teach me cool phrases, and drink all the cheapest, best wine and beer with me. You'll have a friend for life after I depart, too.

For hosting - I just love hosting and showing off my city. Don’t be boring. If I have to spend more energy TRYING to get you to talk to me or my friends than it takes to actually have you talk to me or my friends, don’t request to stay with me… Couchsurfing is about community. Speak.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Seeing as I studied and taught music, I can appreciate all music for what it is. However, I have an affinity for music that makes my FEEL THINGS. Glass Animals and Regina Spektor are my fave. (I also have a soft spot for My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, all that good 2007 pop punk/emo nonsense. No shame.) Also love Twenty One Pilots, Arctic Monkeys. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ibeyi, Jain, Matt Maeson, Apashe, Mindchatter, Mr. Kitty, Crooked Colours, Parov Stelar, Caravan Palace. Gosh, I could go on forever...
Movies - Les Mis, Moulin Rouge, and any Rom Com ever
Books - Trying to find time to read is tough… I tend to read a few books a year max. I’m trying to get better at it because I liked reading a lot as a kid and I think modern day has tainted that for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Worked on a freezing cold, snowy farm in Scandinavia in the middle of winter. Became great friends with the 70 year old owner. Such a great woman.

Traveled from Savannah to Seattle on a bus and then back. (That's literally one corner of the USA to the complete opposite corner, y'all!) It was 8 days roundtrip on a bus with no real meals, sleep, or showers. You learn a lot about yourself in these circumstances... such as humans are a lot more resilient than we think we are.

Taught English to adults in Morocco.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I can teach you about what it's like being born and raised in the South. While I still consider myself a "Southern Belle" deep down, I am certainly an anomaly amongst my family and friends, especially due to my love of traveling solo. Unheard of for a Georgia peach! Nonetheless, I still do it. ;) I can also teach you how to conduct.
Learn - I love languages and need to brush up on my French, specifically. I can read and write it almost fluently, but my accent is wonky and I'm terrible at listening to it. Practice makes perfect!
Share - Pasta, pasta, and more pasta. Vegan food and ideas. Also information on your birth chart (zodiac).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can drink lots of wine and/or beer together. We can cook lots of pasta together. We can listen to lots of records as we tipsily talk about matters of the heart and share our stories of travel.
