About Me

Hi! My name is Katie. I'm 25. Currently I'm studying for my Master's degree in Peace, Conflict and Development in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. I'm generally up for anything, whether it be a quiet day in nature or a night on the town. I consider myself to be open minded and love learning about new cultures and ways of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing to meet other travel minded people. I do not want to participate in couchsurfing just because I am on a budget (although I am) but because I want to truly participate in the culture and the way of life of the place I am staying.

Interests

Being outside, being physically active, dancing, hula hooping, yoga, hiking, reading, learning, cooking, and especially dancing salsa/bachata/kizomba.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like alternative/indie/rock music. Some of my favorites are The Strokes, The Tallest Man on Earth, the XX, the Wombats, the Arctic Monkeys ect. I also love salsa/bachata music.
My favorite author is Edward Albee, and my favorite movie is Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, based off one of his plays. I also love anything by Studio Ghibli. My favorite books include A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith, Papillon by Henri Charrière and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to Burning Man! Burning Man is a huge festival in Nevada, USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more than willing to help you learn English, and I would love help learning Portuguese/Spanish. I can teach you how to cook a typical American meal, and I can teach you how to hula hoop! I'm loving learning how to dance (I learned Forró in Brazil and now I am learning Salsa!), and I'd love to learn about anything specific to your culture.
