Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to become less and less ignorant of the world beyond my doorstep
ABOUT ME
I moved out west after growing up in Northern Ontario and finishing grad school last year in Toronto. If I can't travel too often due to work at least I'm living in a new city that I am having fun exploring. I'm queer and am becoming more and more involved in the small but blossoming queer community in this city. I'd be interested in meeting other queer surfers (and love hosting regardless of orientations/gender).
PHILOSOPHY
Do something different or new every day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I definitely believe in the couchsurfing philosophy: it isn't just a free place to stay, it is about meeting interesting people, discussing interesting ideas and sharing incredible experiences. I love to show people around this city and hopefully highlight the best parts, things that travelers might not experience on their own.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All of my couchsurfing experiences have been positive ones; both as a host and a surfer. It has given me the opportunity to not just see new places but to get the perspective of locals.
So far I have hosted people from:
Belgium
Canada
France
Germany
Japan
Mexico
South Africa
Taiwan
United States
Interests
Language, people, photography, food...and BOOKS! Dreaming about learning how to Scuba. I've recently become interested in indoor climbing. Or obsessed. The word might be obsessed.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I'm a sucker for dark movies (but not scary). And for Batman movies.
Music: Joshua Radin, Five Iron Frenzy, Pearl Jam, Decembertists, Green Day, Marianas Trench, Tragically Hip (check out some great Canadian artists. I swear we have more to offer than Avril, Nickelback and Celine).
Books: Born to Run (turned me to vibrams), Spoken Here, Time Traveler's Wife, Stolen Lives: 20 Years in a Desert Jail
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An ultimate awestruck moment would have to be the night sky in the middle of the Bolivian salt flats. I have never seen so many stars while simultaneously being unable to see my own feet.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to talk languages - my Spanish is mediocre but I love to practice. My French is even more terrible but I'm willing to make a fool out of myself.
If you like indoor rock climbing (or want to try it) I'd be glad to take you along.
Countries I’ve Visited
