We need to update this again because everything we had written on here isn't current! All you need to know is that Steve loves music and Katie loves toilet humor, and we both love our rescue animals. We like each other too, so that's good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We host when we can, and love to meet up with fellow CS'ers and show them around our neighborhood/city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We learned about this site when Katie was subletting in an apartment that hosted couch surfers. It seemed like such a good idea that we decided to join!

Interests

Some of our combined hobbies/interests include DJing, hiking, trying new recipes, organic farming, interior design, taxidermy, animal rescue, crafting, activism, biology, obsessively applying for scholarships, and horror.

Side note by Katie: Steve would probably like me to add that the creepy stuff--taxidermy and horror--don't involve him! He thinks I'm weird.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Both of us read a decent amount of feminist, GLBTQ, and civil rights history/theory, etc...basically anything relating to social justice. Steve's big on Calvin and Hobbes, and non-fiction about ending gender-based violence. Katie's a big reader who loves a random smattering of fiction and nonfiction.

Music:

Steve: I'm a DJ and primarily play drum & bass and dubstep, but have large collections of house, soul, funk, reggae, dub, etc. When I'm not mixing, I like listening to pop-punk, shoegaze, ambient, and folk.

Katie: My musical tastes are kind of embarrassing...

Movies: Katie:TCM/Criterion classics, almost everything zombie, lots of terrible B movies, and lots of other stuff. Night of the Hunter is my favorite.

Steve: I generally like dumb comedies. I feel like an idiot talking about film because I am not a good enough critic. I just like what I like. Some of them include:

-Royal Tenanbaums
-Winter's Bone

Breaking Bad is the best TV show ever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Katie: One time at the zoo I saw a gorilla poo, then bend over and shove its face in and eat the poo. That was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

We want to learn a lot of homesteading skills, and are able to teach some crafting and DJing stuff. Katie plays a little violin and would love to teach a beginner or learn from someone who's actually good at it! Oh, and we're really interested in learning new languages!
