About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Survive the São Paulo jungle and master Portuguese
ABOUT ME
My friends would say that I like languages, people, and countries other than the US. I love adventures which is why traveling is one of the things that keeps me motivated in life. I enjoy exploring places off the beaten path, but also like to check out the tourist spots to see what they're all about. I am open-minded, while fairly liberal thinking and enjoy exploring the cultural aspects of the places I visit.
PHILOSOPHY
Live, learn, and experience
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, I can't host at the moment since I'm living in a shared apartment. But, I'm up for meeting other people who live in São Paulo or others who are just passing through. I'll be traveling while I'm here to other places, so I'll be looking for some surfing oppotunities as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I lived in Santiago, I widely used the Santiago couchsurfing page to find cool events and advice about the city. Then I backpacked for a few months throughout South America, and widely used CS to find places to stay. It was a great experience! I went to a cool CS meetup in Rio de Janeiro back in 2011 and am trying out the events here in São Paulo too.
Interests
Traveling is my greatest passion. My two favorite parts of traveling are street music (like the Olodum drum band in Bahia, Brazil) and food. I absolutely love trying local dishes, particularly street food, and am up for trying almost anything, although I sometimes pass on strange meats... I love to dance, whether it be salsa, cumbia, forró or two-stepping! When living in the US, I spend a lot of time with my three wonderful nephews and four sisters. Family means a lot to me and is what keeps me going back to the US.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open to almost all music but some concerts I have seen in the past include: Coldplay, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Modest Mouse, The Pixies, Bob Dylan, The Artic Monkeys, MIA, and Sublime with Rome. I really like watching live music, especially drums. Olodum from Bahia really captivated me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Walking out on the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia during February (the Bolivian winter) when it looked like an endless mirror. I've never seen anything so breathtaking and intriguing.
-Drinking whiskey on the rocks with glacier ice at Laguna San Rafael in Chilean Patagonia from a tiny tug boat at the base of an enormously powerful glacier
-Visiting the different Holocaust memorials throughout Europe, most notably the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin and Auschwitz
