About Me
CURRENT MISSION
After spending a year studying abroad and traveling in Europe (and a brief stay in Morocco), I was always amazed by the amount of non-Americans who've seen more of the US than me. So until I can get back traveling abroad, I want to see as much of the US as I possibly can! The more people I meet along the way, the better. :D
ABOUT ME
www.facebook.com/katie.coletta
I'm a pretty easy-going and laid back person, and I like to think I can get along with almost anyone. I veer on the side of cautious (I'm definitely not a daredevil!) but I still love experiencing new things. I'm responsible and definitely will respect anyone who hosts me, too!
Otherwise, I love smiling and laughing and I try not to take myself too seriously, unless I'm debating about something I'm passionate about, in which case I'll throw down (respectfully). Of course, once I get talking about something I like, I can never shut up. :')
In short: friendly, enthusiastic, laid-back, respectful, curious, optimistic.
(I just asked my best friend to describe me in three words, and she said "Not. A. Murderer." so there's that, too, haha)
(Also I'm a vegetarian, holla)
PHILOSOPHY
I think the most important thing in life is to be honest with yourself and those around you, as long as it's safe for you to do so. I know it's a cliche, but honestly, life is way too short and unpredictable for you to waste it living a life you can't connect with.
Say what you mean, be sincere, and always, always, always keep an open mind.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only couchsurfed a few times, so go easy on me, please! :)
Interests
Reading and writing! I love cultural studies, too -- from pop culture to world cultures, it interests me. I love debating things and philosophy and movies and history and CATS and drawing (i'm terrible) and singing (even worse) and... video games. :^)
Mostly, though, I love people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can appreciate almost any genre of book, but I especially love sci-fi and fantasy and young adult novels. Graphic novels, too! [EX: The Princess Bride, The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett]
Same goes for TV shows and movies - I really think stories have the power to change the world, and I love being immersed in different worlds.
As for music... man, I listen to almost every genre imaginable. And I'm really indecisive, so picking favorites is REALLY REALLY hard.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the sun rise over the Swiss Alps was a pretty unforgettable experience... or ignoring my rising panic and deep-rooted fear of heights and going cliff diving in Croatia. The scenery and weather were amazing, but I felt so powerful and proud and fearless that day. :)
