HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i prefer face to face interaction with people. real live discussions. i understand the merit of computers and cell phones but i typically find them cumbersome and interruptive. i plan to both host and surf. the introduction of strangers to your surroundings as well as being a stranger in a foreign land creates pretty amazing energy. i like cycles and recycling and reusing and this whole surfing thing makes total sense.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

couch surfed in portland oregon, would like to get back there eventually. also surfed in chicago colorado and virginia.

glass, clay, wood, metal, and fibers. the crafts. cool surface textures. cracks in the concrete and the plants that grow through them. erosion. geology. good indie rock and hip hop. patterns. other people. storytelling. riding bikes and im learning how to fix them too. boating. skiing and snowboarding. traveling. good mood lighting is key. mid century modernism and sustainable design. getting my hands dirty. i love furniture (looking at, using, and making). i also love finding rocks. really, im kinda just an enthusiastic nerd.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

i like to do or see one amazing thing everyday. last night it was this great round profile of a tree being sidelit by a porchlight.

i also had the most amazing solo rock hunting mission in Manistee on the shore of lake Michigan this past may. it was raining and foggy and no more than 48 degrees. i found my first petoskey stone and then 7 more in the span of a couple hours. the terrible conditions for normal beachgoers is the prime time to find some dank ass rocks. i was gleefuil.

i know about physical geology, the crafts, interior design, and being nice. i know about learning a lot too. i really like sharing too. i informally get all my friends together to draw and sketch and read and construct at our huge studio/factory/loft/warehouse. we call it the "detroit craft collective" and my house is the "fortress".
