About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hiking hikes and planting plants

ABOUT ME

I'm a PhD candidate in Human Centered Design & Engineering studying the relationship between meditation, values, and technology. It's AWESOME! I get to do ethnography at BUDDHIST MONASTERIES! And MEDITATE! For my PHD!

I also love beer, so let's drink some together.

PHILOSOPHY

1. Everything is temporary
2. Tell the truth

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host and am hosted :). Thanks to those who've had me! I've been surfing since a cross-country roadtrip in the summer of 2008, and I'm consistently amazed at the generosity and friendliness of fellow CSers. Met my first friends in the city through CS when I moved to Seattle 5 years ago.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a few guys during my drive from GA to WA. Met some really great people through the Seattle CS group: eaten wonderberries, danced to brass bands. Hosted some wonderful people on my short couch: cooked beans, sliced fruit. Surfed in South Korea and Southeast Asia in the summer of 2011, Amsterdam in summer 2012. I've also interviewed and held focus groups with some very helpful Seattle CSers.. thanks for helping me out, ladies and gents!

Music, Movies, and Books

Somehow I have become someone who reads non-fiction. I loved The Blind Assassin, Love in the Time of Cholera, and Postcards, but lately I'm digging Krishnamurti and Bruno Latour. Still <3 Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played in the woods, spent the night with friends, picked berries

Teach, Learn, Share

6 years later and I'm ready to take "make an awesome friendship bracelet" off of here -- but not because I'm not wearing any. I guess I actually DO have interesting things to share now that I am doing this awesome research! You guys, it is so cool!

Countries I’ve Visited
