Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Surfing is life. The rest is details.
ABOUT ME
Currently living in Northern NSW, Australia and working as a research consultant. I am an interdisciplinary researcher working on important topics about intergenerational disadvantage, financial inclusion, and social norms.
I am trying to use my time on this wonderful planet efficiently, so I'm travelling a lot, trying to learn as much as I can and pass on knowledge and ideas to others.
I'm like a surfer nerd. My nerdy friends think I'm a mental rebel, and my surfer friends think I'm a nerd. I love travelling and am comfortable anywhere but at the same time I love reading, I don't take drugs ever (just alcohol), I adore going to bed early, and having interesting conversations with people who challenge my beliefs.
PHILOSOPHY
Surfing is life. The rest is details.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I live on 6 acres in the forest. I have a small studio house so if you wanna surf with me, it’s a tent in the garden. My couch/tent is open for female surfers. When I'm home. Which isn't a whole lot because I do have a wandering spirit and I have the best job in the world so I’m intensely focused on research and teaching for impact.
When I travel I couch surf some of the time and stay in hostels or with AirBnB (second best invention after couchsurfing).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed with CS people in Switzerland, Pakistan and Bangladesh and I love the community. I've also met with CS people in Macedonia. I feel like with CS I really am at home in the world, with friends everywhere. I've hosted women in my house in Bologna when I was living there, and it was an epic way to meet other like-minded travellers to share stories with. I’ve also hosted travelers at my house in Byron Bay and at my home in Duroby Creek.

Music, Movies, and Books
Fantasy books, ethics, cheesy movies (think: Disney), Papa Roach to the Backstreet Boys and everything in between. I'm quietly obsessed with Reggaeton and bachata music ☺.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got bitten by a wild sea lion in the Galapagos Islands on the knee. Then immediately after went swimming with 40 Galapagos sharks in the wild at Leon Dormido (I have a fear of sharks). Was the coolest and worst things all put together.
I've been to 67 countries but the CS 'where I've been' thing is so clunky and slow that I really don't have the patience to put them all in. So yes, I have a lot of stories of epic things from the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you surfing.
I can teach you financial planning.
I can teach you how to make an epic fire.
I can teach you how to build a house.
I can teach you about gardening.
I can teach you about the intergenerational transmission of attitudes, beliefs, norms, and trauma.
I can teach you about how to make the best vegan soup you’ve ever tasted.
I can teach you about the effect of regulation on how microfinance institutions operate.
You can teach me about how your Mum makes Sunday Dinners (or your equivalent).
You can teach me how to play the guitar (I have one ... I just can't play it very well).
You can teach me maths (please ....)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook up a storm using just a toenail clipper and some sawdust. Legit.
I am very good at learning your way of life, and appreciating everything you have to offer. So when you share your culture and habits with me, expect wondrous pleasure at being included in your day to day life.
I can share with you an amazing spirit of us all being the same no matter where we come from. I don't treat couchsurfing like it's just a place to stay - I will appreciate every moment with you and your people and treat every opportunity like it's the best thing that ever happened.
I am so grateful to learn about your culture and food. So even if you have just an hour to show me some secret nook of your village or city and the best street food, I will be the happiest cat on the planet 😀
