About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To listen to different languages, to see people laugh in as many places as humanly possible, to write a book set in another country that doesn't make me sound like an ignorant jerk, to go with the flow, to love every second of life that I'm awake.
ABOUT ME
I grew up outside Seattle, Washington, moved to California for college, and haven't stopped moving since. I majored in Comparative Lit, and am always looking to grow my already-enormous "To Read" list of books. My favorite things in the world are food, books, dancing, laughing, crafting, making art, listening to (and making!) music, and writing. I'm always working approximately five jobs. Ask me about them when we meet. I'm an agnostic, a healthy food activist, and a radical feminist. I welcome differing viewpoints in my circles, as long as they are presented with integrity and do not ever hinge on harming or belittling others.
PHILOSOPHY
Learn as much as you possibly can, then learn a little more.
Find everything some kind of beautiful.
Create, celebrate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In 2011 my dear friend and I traveled through Scandinavia and Western Europe using Couchsurfing along the way, and we had a fabulous time!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My last big trip was to Iceland and Scandinavia for three and a half weeks, and my travel bestie and I couchsurfed for much of our time. I was with one of my oldest and dearest friends, and we were BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of our hosts. Couchsurfing made our trip as perfect as it was, and I will recommend it to anyone! I've since used it for smaller trips within the US, as well, both hosting and surfing, and loved each experience.
Interests
I'm interested in people. What makes them happy, where they hang out, what they talk about, what matters to them and why.
I'm interested in food, and trying as much of it as possible!
Art, and making a lot of it, both by myself and with others.
I'm interested most of all in being a smart, good person who makes people laugh and laughs with them, and teaches at least half as much as I learn.

Music, Movies, and Books
TOO MANY TO LIST. And the list changes often. Let's talk about it when we meet.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had dysentery once in sub-Saharan Africa, and was laid up in a tiny clinic in Botswana. While I was lying there, delirious and hallucinating, an enormous spider crawled across the wall next to me. It was real, it turns out, and I was pretty convinced at the time it was god coming to visit. I wrote a poem about it later, when there was not an IV in my writing hand.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach art and craft projects, including some printmaking, knitting, embroidery, photography, collaging, letterpress, and screenprinting. I am ALWAYS looking for new art projects! I can also teach some yoga, and can help write or copyedit pretty much anything you can throw at me.
I would love to learn to cook international dishes, and always adore book and music recommendations from outside the U.S.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to share books and crafts with you!
