About Me

I work at a telephone helpdesk for various advocacy organizations, non-profits & such. If you're getting too much mail from the democrats or only meant to make a one-time donation to amnesty international but you keep getting charged, I'm yr girl.

In my off-hours I play music, raise my two cat-sons, Eli and Palmer, and am just generally working on being kinder to myself and more connected with others. :)

Also, I'm trans. I use she/her pronouns and had my name legally changed last year, but haven't traveled or hosted anyone since coming out in early 2018. As such, my reviews use my old pronouns and all that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also also, I haven't logged in here in a while, sorry everyone who's messaged me with no reply. Excited to get back to hosting folks!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the opportunity CS provides to meet and learn about people. I know it's a cliche answer, but cliches only get that way because they have a kernel of truth to them! I enjoy hearing others share their thoughts and feelings, listening to them talk about what excites them, worries them, what they're looking forward to, etc. I really think enthusiasm is contagious, like yawning.

Also, I love being the hostess: setting up a quiet place for folks to breathe and rest, fixing food sometimes, giving advice on things to see around town, all that good shit.

(That being said, I'm actually fairly introverted myself, so I make sure to give travelers space. :) Sometimes you're just tired and need some alone time after a long journey, right?)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled around Central and Eastern Europe for five weeks in the summer of 2017 doing research for a book I'm writing about histories of separation and displacement along the Danube corridor. I met so many different people with interesting, funny and/or moving stories of their own, many of whom I met through CS, and connected with my own family history in a way that was actually more emotional than I'd anticipated. I hope to go back very soon.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a decent cook and solid conversation partner, so I can cook you something yummy and while we discuss the matters of the day lol

Also, I used to work as a dishwasher, so if you have a mountain of dishes I'd be happy to help cut it down!
