About Me

PLEASE READ - currently living in Greece.

ABOUT ME
Hello, people of the universe! I'm Katja, born and raised in the tiny chicken-shaped country of Slovenia. But that was just a starting point! From there, my only goal is to get lost in the world, if t were possible, I wouldn't mind traveling to space. I enjoy this site because it's the best way to meet people from all over, and learn the proper "sharing is caring" philosophy, and it connects people in a very special and beautiful way.

I am, like many of you, In love with traveling and learning from people with different backgrounds, experiences, stories, languages....

PHILOSOPHY

Treat people like you want to be treated. Wear sunscreen... and the whole Mary Schmich's speech :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Back in 2011, I got introduced to CS while (not knowing that) doing it :). Since then, I have hosted some amazing characters, who always remind me why traveling is special. And I love to do it, because it gives you an opportunity to see the culture, place, people, from a different perspective, a different picture, not only the postcard one.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted, and I have surfed around the world, and I have never thought I would meet such incredible, different, and interesting people! Even when I host, it feels like I am traveling with the guests and actually discovering my own country! My CS experiences are positive, and I developed a great belief in human kindness.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everywhere I have been, I made so many good friends, with positive and crazy personalities! I never knew there were so many good people around this world :)

I think the truly amazing thing is if you are able to see the magic in the small everyday things. But here are some "big" things I will never forget:

I was very amazed watching my first musical in London- We will rock you.
Making fire into art on the beach in Florida.
Shooting with Carlos in Memphis :D
Skydiving in Franz Joseph
Canyon swing in Nevis
Spending the night at the Termini train station,
Sunrise in Cappadocia and sunset on mt. Nemrut
Himalaya!!!!
Diving in Dahab and seeing a dolphin poo in front of me
The Pyramids
Meeting a man who is obsessed with lava

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn new things about cultures, the little secrets of places people live in, I live for trying different food, getting out of my comfort zone, and learning new languages. I enjoy listening to people's stories, and different experiences, and I get impressed quite easily :).

I think that everything you see and hear, everybody you meet during traveling has an impact on you and helps you to become a better person or to realize your weakness and your strength. I believe we can learn from everybody and every situation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, if I have time to make something traditional; dancing, laughing, hiking, exploring....
