About Me

Hey there!
My name is Katja and I'm a German student. At least that's what I would tell people - the truth is: I haven't seen a university from the inside since november 2014. After I got my university degree, I decided to take some time off to get first impressions of the "grown-up work life" (in a vegan bakery - get money for eating cake and talking to great people? best job I ever had!) and of course - to travel the world!! :D
I'm pretty sure I'll start studying again so I feel like it's okay to still introduce myself as a student.. :)

I spent some time in India (which changed my ways of seeing and dealing with things a lot!), if you're interested in that (or want to get another glimpse of the life i've been living so far) just follow the link to my blog (it's mostly German, sorry for that - but there are pictures, too!! ;)):

Oh and I'm not able to tell a single joke. Sorry. :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think there's a big difference between visiting places and just talking to the people you came with and discovering the world by meeting locals. I'm always curious about peoples lives around the globe so I hope to get to know lots of interesting personalities..

Plus I'll be travelling alone a lot so I hope to find some company.. :)

Interests

I'm a vegan, I guess that's kind of a big thing about me (but - I won't talk about it all the time, big promise! ;)). I'm interested in animal rights and take part in animal rights campaigns from time to time.
I also try to care about other things I'm a part of - for example environmental stuff or human rights (the textile industry is kind of a big deal for me).

Besides that I love to dance through nights, listen to music (especially live at concerts), watch movies, go for a walk with my dog, go crazy with my ferrets, play the guitar, sing, cook and bake, eat!!, spend hours in the internet reading articles about eeehhm very important stuff, sleep, have long talks with my friends, hike, eat, ride my bike, camp in the forest, get creative with all kinds of materials (I'm talking about handicrafts. yes that's all!) feel the sunlight on my face, did I say eat?

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to folk, indie or acoutic music but also enjoy singing along to the radio, dancing to Hiphop or house, metal or hardrock.

Some of my favourites at the moment are Radical Face, Ben Howard, José Gonzales, Maxim, AnnenMayKantereit, Moddi, Florence and the Machine, Mumford&Sons, Pohlmann, Dota&die Stadtpiraten, Seeed, Philipp Poisel, Agnes Obel, Death Cab For Cutie, Alt-J, Wallis Bird, Moop Mama.

I don't watch a lot of movies, series or just TV cause I'm outside doing stuff most of the time. If I do, I really enjoy Tim Burton or movies from the Ghibli Studios. In the end I guess any movie is fine when enjoyed with fun people, popcorn or nachos.. :D

My favourite author is Haruki Murakami but I just enjoy reading a lot. Mostly novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not really something I accomplished, but amazing as hell..
..my first couchsurfing experience when I met Indira and her brother in the middle of the night at a busstop somewhere in bosnia (I was totally lost at that time) and they didn't only speak German but spontaneously took us with them to their flat in Sarajevo for a couple of days, went with us to local places and took us to their family in a small town close to the capital.
We stayed their for a weekend, cooked typical food together and had tons of fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I basically want to learn anything 'the world' offers me.. Listen to peoples stories, see new places, have interesting talks seems like the best way to spend my time for me.

I'm a friendly, outgoing, pretty happy person so I hope we can share some good times.. :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

I improved my baking skills during my last job so I can offer cake (vegan).. :3
If you're into cooking and baking, too, I'd love to cook or bake with you, it's always great fun to get creative in the kitchen I tink! :D

I also have some basic skills in playing the guitar (really basic ;)) and I'd love to take care of your pets! :D
