ABOUT ME

Hi - my name is Katja, I am 46 years old and I like travelling with my son Julius. We also have visitors at home. My husband doesn´t have as many holidays as we have so the two of us do some travelling on our own- but we love to have contact to other people, culture, precious memories, preparing meals together, communication and real life does not happen in a hotel...
We are both very friendly, honest and outgoing. I work as an English teacher at a vocational school and Julius is in his first year of Grammar School in a special Music Class. We have friends in Kent (England) and we try to see them once a year, so Julius understands quite a lot so far. I am a non-smoker and because of Julius it is important not to be near smoking people- we both have asthma (and unfortunately a cat´s allergy). I like healthy eating, organic food and cooking and preapring jams etc.... what else?? Maybe we´ll meet and we can find out! Bye Bye

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

You can invite the world into your home... this can be so interesting and each time I feel that I made a short trip to the surfer´s country... So far I mainly hosted but hope to surf more in soon future...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During our travel through the USA meeting a foreign lady on Venice Beach, LA, talked to her by chance for 20 minutes and she then offered us to stay in her holiday house at the BIG SUR coast of California which was not used at that time. I didn´t know who she was until 1 week later when I had internet access- her husband is a famous LA-based screenwriter and the house was stunning, 200 m above the Pacific with no neighbours, build nearly complete with glass and with a grass roof... that was unbelievable, the confidence and trust she showed without even knowing me. I will never forget this week- like in paradise! The sunsets were fantastic and you felt like the first people in the world due to the rural position. The next possibility of going shopping was about 50 minutes by car...We both cried when leaving after a week! A unique experience- which cannot be repeated as this is something which comes to you as a great gift- not bookable in a hotel etc..
