About Me

I think the type of traveler you are says a lot about you. I love being outdoors more than anything. My travel destinations have mostly been chosen based on their surrounding nature and types of ecosystems (typically I head to the mountains), and I love learning about how everything fits together. I'll jump at any chance I get to sleep under the trees or stars. When I stick to cities I tend to be a museum and cafe goer, trying to take in all the art and beauty of a place while learning about its history. I walk A LOT when I travel, I think it's the best way to see all the little details. I have in the past tried to avoid all tourist traps but I'm realizing the more I travel that there's generally a reason those spots are so popular. However, I most enjoy getting to know local culture and stepping outside of the hustle and bustle of other travelers.

I've studied geography for almost three years and am very interested in politics and social justice. My life goals change like the weather but right now I have my sights set on a humanitarian career, perhaps for the UN or an NGO/nonprofit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

to build community, to share cultures and ideas and food and feelings and truths and moments, to meet people who are different from myself, to practice opening my heart and my home to people who may go from strangers to friends.

I am new to hosting but one person I live with isn't! I'm excited to get to see this other side of couchsurfing :)

Music, Movies, and Books

my interests are diverse~

music: hurray for the riff raff, frank ocean, neutral milk hotel, the tallest man on earth, iron and wine, a tribe called quest.
movies: moonlight, get out, electrick children, big fish, call me by your name
books: the little prince, women who run with the wolves, white innocence, men explain things to me, small great things, and lots of nonfiction. currently reading "the ethnic cleansing of palestine"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

went camping in the swiss alps and woke up to snow! while we were packing up camp a fox came looking for food and hung out for like ten minutes while we froze (literally and metaphorically), and it was so quiet and magical.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love language sharing, teaching a bit and learning a bit as I go. I could always use help with my spanish and german and I'm looking to learn a bit of mandarin before I head to Taiwan in June!

I am a jack of all trades and master of none, so I can share my basic skills in knitting, coding in R and java, cooking, baking, and photography. I would love to talk all day about geography, travel, trekking, the pitfalls of academia, and activism around inequality.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Swiss chocolate, or a bottle of wine, with lots of good company! I can cook if required but often I travel to places where the food is so good that anything I make pales in comparison.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Norway, Switzerland, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Switzerland, United States
