Hi! I'm Katrene (Katya), and I'm a Robotics Engineer doing a year abroad before I start my PhD in August 2026.

I am a female solo-traveler from California, and nothing in this world brings me as much joy as solo-travelling. I love going to new places, meeting new people, and learning new things. Every host I've had on Couch Surfing has made some kind of positive impact on me and my world view.

Although I am an engineer, I truly love ART. Whether it be local street art, or museums, or dancing. I also love to partner dance. My two biggest are Salsa and Bachata, but I am also familiar with most other partner dances. When im not working in the lab, I like to split my time between places full of music/art, and backpacking through the woods.
