For me Couchsurfing is the ideal travel accessory. It enables the traveller to meet new people, experience a city like/with a local, have a (temporary) home-away-from-away and the fact that it's free is always a nicely added bonus for his/her wallet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only had a few couchsurfing experiences, but so far they have been great. I hope to welcome people onto my couch as soon as I have my own place.

Books: I'm a sucker for travel biographies: From Seven years in Tibet, to Eat Pray Love.
