About Me

HOW DIFFICULT are these boxes to fill in??? Don't know where to start. Guess I'll just dive in.

I'm Katrina. I work as a translator and language tutor, and am generally a dabbler in anything and everything!

I'm from the UK, which I love very much, but am currently experiencing large amounts of wanderlust and feel it's time to move out and about for a while.

I love making things, going for long walks, watching comedy, hearing people's stories, sketching, catching up with old friends, making new ones, gin and tonic, politics, yoga, theatre... all sorts :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't think it can be matched in terms of local insight, which is what I'm after :D the CS experiences I've had so far have also been some of my best travel experiences overall!

Movies/TV: Anything by Almodovar, The Hours, LOTR, OITNB, Parks and Rec, Buffy, Blackadder, The Great British Bake-off

Books: The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters, The Temporary Bride by Jennifer Klinec, Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng, Carol by Patricia Highsmith, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, LOTR

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mt Pico in the Azores. More stars than sky when we reached the summit at 2am, I cried. Stunning

Teach, Learn, Share

I work as a translator and language teacher, so am more than happy to share my skills wherever I am! My big joint concerns are education and environmentalism, so am always delighted to discuss and debate these topics in particular!

I think that life is one massive learning experience, so I'll be all ears to anything you have to teach me - about your experiences, impressions, opinions.. I'm also trying to get better at drawing at the moment, so it'd be great to get some tips from any artists out there.. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Language learning and excellent conversation mostly! I am a terrible cook, but a willing student and sampler - any budding chefs who need a guinea pig for their new (veggie!) creations have a perfect test subject right here :D

I am very willing to help out with whatever needs doing - from washing to gardening, always ready to muck in.
