CURRENT MISSION
To be present and not take myself so seriously!
ABOUT ME
Hi there. My name is Katherine, but Kat for short! I just graduated with a Master's degree in Sociology in Memphis, and I'm very ready for the next chapter of my life to begin. Some random things: I really like Scandinavia. I enjoy using and learning American Sign Language, and hope to develop expert German skills soon. My maternal family lives in Germany. I visit them as much as I can. I like shades of red and green together, as well as neutrals. I love greys, browns and blacks, and am not afraid to wear them all at once. I'm pretty good at handstands. I'm interested in learning to swing/jive dance, but kind of lack the motivation right now. Karaoke's my new thing. And I have a jewelry-related blog that really needs to be updated...
PHILOSOPHY
"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."
"Be the change you want to see in the world."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, I have mostly been a host. My roommate and I have had a great time sharing our city with travelers, and learning from the diverse people who have entered our home. I also surfed just a little bit in Amsterdam and Brussels this summer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
ICELAND
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn how to relax. I tend to be anxious--my mind is rarely still. I am also learning how to share. I want to learn how to collaboratively consume and not feel that my identity is attached to 'things.' Also, I want to learn that change is good, and that it is necessary!
As far as what I could teach you, perhaps some sign language, sociological insights, some German, and things I have learned along the way :)
I love Memphis and I want you to, too! We have a rich history, and a vibrant arts and music scene. I'm still learning things about this city all the time. For local happenings and insights from someone else who loves Memphis, check out: http://ilovememphisblog.com/
