ABOUT ME

I grew up in Russia, moved to Canada at the tender age of 18, fell in love with Barcelona when I was 22, and now I'm torn between so many amazing places I don't have any choice but to be a citizen of the world! Three things seem to be a constant about me these days: I write for a living (need Internet for this); I dance ballet and do kickboxing (an awesome combination); this travel itch can only be scratched by visiting new places, so... here I am!

I joined CS in 2010, and since I have been doing a lot of travelling and working on my own, I didn't have many opportunities to host. Those people who spent nights in my guestroom were amazing, and I have only good things to say about them. I can't wait to host more.

While I am in Toronto, I strive to wake up at 10 am every weekday (weekends are off limits). My work demands being glued to the computer screen hours at a time, and I work from home, so there is a lot of self-discipline and disciplining involved, but it also makes me somewhat flexible with my time.

I love Toronto, and more and more so with every passing year. I moved here in 2006 and enjoyed it ever since. It brings great pleasure to me to discover new places to eat, drink and bring friends to (or all of the above) here, and I would love to share my local-ish knowledge with fellow couch surfers.

Even more than Toronto I love Barcelona, with all my heart, and if my status is set to "Traveling", chances are I am in Spain. However, I am set on travelling proper in upcoming months and can't wait to try surfing at last!

PHILOSOPHY

I like controlled adventures. Let me elaborate: while there is something to be said about spontaneity and a spur-of-the-moment type of decisions, careful planning doesn't take away from travelling, it enhances it.

I can teach you some fun Russian words, or just help you practice if you happen to be learning this incredibly difficult language of mine. I can show you how to make mushroom pasta in 20 minutes or less. We can also have a drink... boy, can we!
