Hello couchsurfers out there! My name is Katy, and I'm a 26 year old undergraduate sociology and film studies student from the UK. For the past year I've been living in the Netherlands, and I'm now returning to the UK, after a month in the USA for the summer.

I'm travelling to Montgomery to do a short research project on heritage sites and museums in the area. I will be exploring how museums and monuments are linked to social justice movements, and find out about the ways heritage sites are linked to people's ideas about a sense of place, identity, and memory.

While a stay in a motel is definitely on my do-to list of American experiences, I would really love to meet some locals, and see what Montgomery is like from some insider's perspectives, so I'm looking for some hosts for my trip. So, if anyone is out there who would like to share their best bits of Montgomery with a newbie Brit, it would be lovely to meet you!

As you can imagine, I'm really interested in history, museums and society. I also love to explore the countryside. I'm a keen filmgoer, and I'm also partial to a TV series binge (Transparent, Broad City, Gogglebox etc.). I also love to garden, so please feel free to send me out back if you have any weeding to do!
