About Me

Hello, I'm Kay, I'm from England and I'm on my big trip around Latin America :)

I love dancing and art and I'm studying both as I go along. I have a freelance job as a copywriter and the moment I realised that meant I could work anywhere, I booked a flight to Argentina. I was planning to go home via Brasil four months later but that was a year ago and I'm still here. I've accidentally become a digital nomad. It's wonderful.

I've loved endless nights dancing in Brasil, dance congresses and workshops with shiny vibrant people, graffitied streets, cheese on a stick, barzinhos, climbing a volcano and sliding down it on a tray, the Amazon rainforest, taking up drawing again, learning Portuguese. So many things.

I've been in Sao Paulo with friends for a few months, now it's time to move on. I'm off to see the world, and it would be lovely to meet you and see your corner of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my favourite things about my trip has been making new friends and staying with different people, and experiencing their country the way they see it. I love learning the little things people do in their lives that make them bright, like making time to have breakfast together, jogging along the beach with the dog, or singing their favourite songs in the living room in the middle of the day.

I've never tried Couchsurfing and now that I'm moving on from Sao Paulo to go exploring again, it seems like the perfect time.

I'm new on here so no references yet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love life-expanding and mind-expanding books and talks. I'm working through a book called The Artist's Way at the moment which has lots of exercises in it to become more creative. A New Earth by Eckart Tolle is very special. I don't read that much mostly because of the time, I'm a slow reader, but I love talks by researchers and authors. TED talks and podcasts. For example, Brene Brown, Oprah, Alain de Botton, Tony Robbins, Jameela Jamil.. All the awesome people. I want to go and listen to some now.

I love fun happy movies. The other day I saw Aladdin and I loved it so much. So colourful. I recommend it just for the scene with the jam.

I listen to music a lot and love finding new things. I usually like happy singer songwriter types. I've recently discovered Céu, Silva and Thiago Iorc just for nice vibes, Snatam Kaur for peaceful vibes, and I love the Cat Empire and Janelle Monae for some energy. A bit of Ru Paul can't go wrong for party time too. "Don't kill my vibe, don't touch my weave."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed a volcano and slid down it on a tray.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a qualified Pilates Instructor so I can teach you some Pilates if you like. I can do super chill pre-bed almost meditation Pilates, or we can go all out press-up work-up-a-sweat Pilates.

I do a partner dance called Zouk which is the best thing ever so I can definitely teach you some of that.

I've do a lot of studying about wellbeing so I love: A Big Chat.

I speak fairly good Portuguese and amazing English (I'm English ;) ) so I can probably help with either of those.

I'd also like to explore more arts so if you'd like to go and see an exhibition or a show, let's go!
