About Me
Hello! My name is Kaya, I am currently a College student in Utah ( U.S.) studying Journalism. I hope that I am able to find a career that will allow me travel alot, But until then- I am planning a month long trip around Europe with my cousin for this summer! #GLT ❤️ I have lived abroad ( In Senegal and China) for two years and have found that some of the best experiences of my life have been found outside of my comfort zone. I do love Utah (best snow on earth! 😉) and would welcome anyone who wants to come and ski!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am couch surfing because traveling is always so much more fun when you are meeting people, and making those connections along the way. I love having experiences that are less 'touristy' and I can think of no better way than befriending locals!
Interests
I am getting my communications degree with an emphasis in journalism - so I am very interested in stories :) I also love camping, hiking, cooking, good food and of course- the beach!

Music, Movies, and Books
So many to choose from! My favorite movie is probably Amelie, and lately I have been listening to The XX, The National, and the song 'coffee' by Sylvan Esso (you should go listen to it if you haven't already!)
I like to read autobiography's of people who have done incredible things in their life - I most recently read 'Mountains beyond Mountains' by Tracy Kidder and I highly suggest it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went paragliding over the cliffs of Oahu - one of the most magical experiences of my life! Would love to fly again some day 🙂
Teach, Learn, Share
I was once fluent in Wolof ( Senegalese dialect) and would be happy to teach what I remember... ( though it is not much anymore) I am also a vegetarian and would be happy to teach different recipes/health tips for becoming one. I am also happy to teach English - as that is one thing that I am sure I am good at 😁
And there is so much I want to learn! I would love to learn French, Spanish, and Portugese. I am happy to experience and learn anything new!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am happy to cook a vegetarian meal for my hosts - as well as sharing something from where I am from!
