I am a quiet person who likes to read, write and draw. I will get into animated conversations about travel, art, books, or spirituality, but respect quiet as well.
I grew up on a beautiful island and am back there now most of the time.
But need to get out and have some adventures!
I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I'm fine if you do, as long as you are kind and responsible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I teach a women's self defense program at the small island where I live. I love to get more training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and other self defense techniques..and my favourite gym is in Gresham, Portland.
I have stayed once before, last year, and plan on making another two month visit this year, through April and May.
The Canadian dollar is low and America is expensive for me to stay! I'm hoping to find someone who might host me for a few weeks at a time. I can offer some form of cooking, cleaning, pet or child minding, or art in trade.

Books- I will read anything. I love Dostoevsky, Solzhenitsyn, Ann Patchett, Primo Levi, Laurel K. Hamilton, Anne Rice, Roseanne Gay, Fairy Tales and Mythology. And much, much more. Very omnivorous when it comes to reading, although of course I go through phases.

I am an excellent cook - I am omnivorous but my best recipes are vegetarian/vegan.
I can be convinced to tutor someone in the fine art of chopping and sauteeing.

I know sign language and if you have an interest, I am happy to give you a basic overview.
