About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to finish my degree in Film and then combine it with my Journalism degree to travel the world, making documentaries. I also sort of want to be Martha Stewart (minus the prison term).

ABOUT ME

I'm half Sicilian (most of my family is still back in Catania), but I don't speak any Italian unfortunately. I do understand a tiny bit though.

I grew up in northwest Florida where I was homeschooled all through elementary and high school. I then got a Journalism degree at the community college up there and still write freelance from time to time. In 2011, I moved down to Melbourne, FL after getting a promotion and transfer at work as the manager of a movie theater. However, film school is something I've wanted to pursue since I was 15. So, last year, I quit my job and moved an hour away to Orlando!

So, here I am, going to school, and working as a cook at Universal Studios and as a personal chef. I can't get you into the parks for free, but I get in free. Which means, if you ever need a friend to go with you, I'm your girl!

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to host people from all over the world to make friends and learn different cultures. However, my roommates are a bit afraid of the whole couch surfer concept and do not feel comfortable hosting. I'd love to hang out or give you a ride somewhere if you need, though!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted two girls a few times while I was in Melbourne, FL. We had lots of fun and we're now good friends! I still see them from time to time.

Interests

I love anything artistic and creative. I've never been much of a math or science person. I much prefer writing, reading, art, photography, music, film making, etc. I also love to cook and bake! I sometimes fancy myself a bit of a gourmet, but I know I'm not. Ha ha!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love anything by Charles Dickens or Jane Austen. I'm a huge fan of most British things, including lots of British shows: Doctor Who, Monty Python, Little Britain, The Catherine Tate Show, etc. I'm a huge nerd and love anything Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter related. Also enjoy a good Nintendo or board game now and again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I unfortunately haven't done too many amazing things in my life yet. But, there are two things that come to mind: I once interviewed a man who founded an orphanage and school in India. This interview has always held a place in my heart, because speaking to this man and learning about the orphans in India is one of the biggest things that has inspired me to want to travel and make documentaries.

The other thing I can think of is seeing a real rocket launch. Living near Cape Canaveral for a year and a half, I've been able to witness two rockets launching into space. We see planes in the sky everyday, but a rocket is something different altogether. Seeing that thing getting smaller and smaller and then witnessing it just disappear before your eyes once it goes through the atmosphere into space....it's just an awesome sight.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know English inside and out. So, if you're from overseas and looking to better your English skills, I would be more than willing to help you, from accent to writing to slang.

I also love teaching people how to cook. I'd love to host someone who would want to exchange recipes. A night spent teaching you an American dish in exchange for a dish from your country would be so much fun!
