Overview
About Me
I am a writer, baker, and book-lover. I prefer coffee over tea, brownies over cookies, cookies over cake, and make (hopefully) beautiful tarts. Often the best part of traveling for me is trying as many new foods as I can, as well as seeking outstanding culinary experiences.
I grew up in the southern United States and have since moved to Bloomington, IN where I am working on my MFA in Creative Writing. My writing has always been best while I've been traveling, so I'm hoping to do more of that in the future. I've been a bit land-locked for the past two years due to graduate school.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm couchsurfing in hopes of meeting locals who know the areas much better than I do. I'd like to see parts of the city that its citizens love and not just the areas that attract tourists. I'm also very interested in people's food stories and would love to buy coffee for someone who'd be willing to exchange some stories about food, life, and living in different parts of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love classic country, though I've denied that much of my life. I also am a singer-songwriter, classic rock, and 90's hip-hop fan. My music tastes are pretty diverse. I enjoy going to shows, as well.
Movies: I unfortunately don't often make it to the movies, but some of my favorites are Casablanca, Juno, Bachelorette, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Books: As I Lay Dying, Flannery O'Connor, All books by Aimee Bender, Light by Lucille Clifton, Crush by Richard Siken.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam through the sea caves at Antiparos, Greece.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not sure what this section means. I am a teacher. I teach English and Creative Writing at Indiana University, which has been an amazing experience. I anticipate to always incorporate teaching into my life, no matter my profession.
Learn, well, I guess you can't be a good teacher if you feel you already know everything and most days, I feel like I don't know anything at all. Travel seems like the perfect way to discover some things, though.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a coffee, book recommendations, a dinner on me, a dessert that I bake, a nice walk.
