About Me

I'm a free-spirited, 24-year-old landscape architect in the USA just trying to stuff my eyes with wonder as long as I can! I love people, nature, music, art, traveling, and just about any other lovely thing this universe has to offer. I'm quite passionate about the things I'm into, so chances are we'll get along swell if you're down to chat about what you're passionate about too :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first heard about Couchsurfing through an awesome acquaintance of mine who used it to travel during her gap year between high school and college, and her stories of all the amazing people she got to meet and share experiences with drew me in.

Interests

I'm received my Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture (BSLA) in May 2018, which is basically the art & practice of designing the outdoor environment, such as parks or gardens together with buildings and roads. It's a bit of an unusual area of study most people haven't heard of, but I'm so happy I came upon it. It kind of combines all my interests - nature and landscape, urban planning, design, community involvement, ecology, sustainability, art, etc.

Honestly, I'm interested in too many things to talk about here, so why not save that for when we meet! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

As for music, I'm really into all kinds of electronic, rap, and R&B/funk/soul right now; for specifics, check out my Soundcloud! My username's kweiss4295 (https://soundcloud.com/kweiss4295). But I grew up on a lot of alternative/hard rock and pretty much everything else thanks to my older siblings so I'm into just about every genre except most pop country & heavy metal.

I'm a bit of a movie buff as well, so I'll just name some of my favorites: Kill Bill, There Will Be Blood, Good Burger, Mulan, Her, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The "Before" Trilogy by Richard Linklater, It's A Wonderful Life, The Pianist, Interstellar, Almost Famous, Spirited Away, Scarface, Fear, Never Let Me Go, and too many more to count.

I grew up a voracious reader & book lover. I've accumulated a bunch of favorites that have influenced me greatly:

East of Eden by John Steinbeck
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
The Giver by Lois Lowry
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
The Moviegoer by Walker Percy
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig
There Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've taken two cross-country road trips with my dad from our home in New Jersey out to Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Montana & surrounding states to ride railroads in this thing called a "motorcar" that my dad built... weird, I know haha. You wouldn't even be able to picture what I'm talking about, but there's a picture of me standing next to the motorcar in my photos!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm all about learning as much as I can from others & sharing my knowledge and experiences in return. There's no limit to the valuable things we can share with each other :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very low-maintenance, easy-going, carefree, and just love to have a good time and experience new things. I can guarantee I'll be able to make you laugh some way or another, and I'll tell you everything you want to know about landscape architecture, the USA, and anything else you think I could contribute :)
